Walk of Friends

A commemorative brick walkway, the "Walk of Friends" is located in the garden at the Arthur B. and Ethel V. Horton VNA Hospice Center. Your gift of $100 will provide you with an engraved 4" x 8" brick to be placed in the Walk of Friends. The bricks are deeply etched with a protected inscription. The 4" x 8" brick will hold a maximum of three lines, with thirteen characters and spaces on each line. A 8" x 8" brick is available for $500 gifts and accommodates a maximum of five lines with thirteen characters and spaces on each line.

Families may request memorial donations be grouped and applied toward the plaque. Families, organizations and businesses are able to upgrade their plaque to the next level through additional donations over time.

Remaining Room/Area Naming Opportunities at the Hospice Center

From 2000 until 2002, the VNA conducted a capital campaign to raise funds for the construction of the Hospice Center. During the campaign, room and area naming opportunities were determined. Donors making donations at designated amounts were given the opportunity to “name” the area or room in honor or memory of a loved one, organization, or business. A few naming opportunities remain and include:

  • North and South Wings                          $300,000
  • Lobby (including sculpture area)             $100,000
  • Frontage Landscaping                            $100,000
  • Front Landscaped Island                        $100,000
  • Emergency Generator                               $50,000
  • South Entrance Area                                $35,000
  • Nurses Call System                                  $25,000
  • Security and Fire Alarm Systems              $25,000
  • Signage                                                    $15,000

Donors may choose to make their donation in the form of a pledge, payable over a three year period. Those leaving bequests may stipulate a remaining naming opportunity if the VNA is informed in writing of the intent.
