Stroll for
Hospice
Sunday, April 27, 2008

The
Stroll for Hospice, chaired by Patty Rooney, is a family-oriented
event that brings people together in a special way to remember their
loved ones, while supporting the VNA Hospice program in its mission
to help care for those approaching the end of life. Senior citizens,
adults and children of all ages, along with local business, church,
and school teams are encouraged to participate in the approximately
3 mile stroll through the neighborhoods around the Arthur B. and
Ethel V. Horton VNA Hospice Center. Wheelchairs, strollers, wagons
and well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome, too. Participants may
walk in honor or memory of a loved one or co-worker and collect
pledges to support the VNA Hospice program.

Dunes Cup VNA
Hospice Regatta
Saturday, August 9, 2008
Members
of the community, sailors from around Lake Michigan and VNA staff,
volunteers and supporters come together for the Dunes Cup VNA
Hospice Regatta. This premier event is one of only 25 regattas held
nationwide in support of hospice, and the first regatta for hospice
to be held on Lake Michigan. The event helps raise funds to support
the VNA Hospice Program and increase community awareness of the
benefits of hospice care for patients and their families. The day
includes exciting sailboat races on Lake Michigan, followed by an
awards celebration featuring a dinner, rum punch bar and live music
and dancing. Bill Higbie serves as chairman of the event.
The
mission of the Visiting Nurse Association is to provide quality
health care services in an effective, innovative and personalized
manner to members of the community, within the resources available,
enabling them to preserve their dignity and maintain their highest
level of independence while remaining in their homes.
